Resumen:
Abstract We examined the mycorrhizal status and arbuscular mycorrhiza (AM) colonization of 128 plant species (belonging to 53 families) of the montane forest ecosystem of central Argentina. Mycorrhizas were present in 93% of the sampled plants and four different mycorrhizal types were recognized. Arbuscular mycorrhizas and dark septate endophytes (DSE) associations were the predominant types with 110 and 93 plant species colonized respectively. Orchidiod colonization was present in the five species found while ectomycorrhiza only in the tree Salix humboldtiana. Co-occurrence of AM and DSE was observed in 88 plant species. To our knowledge, this is the first report of the mycorrhizal status in 108 new species, 12 of which are endemic for central Argentina. Aa achalensis and Buddleja cordobensis were declared endangered species. In addition, this is the first work of the mycorrhizal status of the montane forest community
