Resumen:
Cloud point extraction (CPE) plays a predominant role in the new conception of the chemistry: use of reagents of low toxicity for the environment, possibility of recycle, employment of small volumes, etc. CPE constitutes an interesting alternative to the conventional extraction-preconcentration systems. In addition to the reasons previously mentioned, the capacity to preconcentrate elements with high recoveries and the possibility of combine with flow methodologies,  make  the CPE one of the most attractive tool of the contemporary analytical chemistry; this is amply demonstrated by the growing number of publications. The present work  tries to be a help for all that what is in the beginning of the attractive research topic of CPE applied to the preconcentration of metal ions. Many of the applications mentioned here, published during year 2000,  have been organized in groups of elements, taking into account the alphabetic order, for make easier the information searching. Not only it has been included information about some common difficulties entailed to metals CPE applications but also valuable efforts focusing to the elucidation of physical-chemistry phenomena related to partition processes, complexation and/or extraction reactions. For other side, it tries to give an actualization for all those, even though having realized their contributions in this research topic, follow working in the search of solutions to the analytical problems. For all this,  goes our entire recognition  as a tribute and, in a special mode, for who have made a way in this investigation field. Key Words:  Cloud point extraction, metal ions, preconcentration, review.
