Resumen:
Klebsiella pneumoniae (Kp) is a widespread opportunistic pathogenassociated with high mortality rates in immunocompromised patients, attributed to the production of Kp-Carbapanemase (KPC), anenzyme that mediates resistance to carbapenems. Previously, wehave demonstrated that Kp-KPC sequence type 258, a multi-resistanthyperepidemic clone, induced poorly bactericidal responses inPMN and Kp bacterial extracts (KpBE) were able to subvert reactiveoxygen species (ROS) production induced by fMLP. In this work, our aim was to study the mechanisms and bacterial componentsinvolved in this ROS inhibition. Using isolated human PMN we foundthat KpBE also reduced ROS production induced by another seventrans-membrane agonist, Leukotiene B4 (LB4), measured with dihydrorhodamine 123 (DHR) by FACS (%DHR+ PMN: LB4=41,4±4;KpBE+LB4=23,9±5, p
