Resumen:
Diluted magnetic semiconductors (DMS) consist of nonmagneticsemiconducting materials doped with a few atomicpercent of impurity magnetic cations. DMS have attractedmuch attention due to the combination of magnetic and semiconductingproperties that makes them good candidates forspintronic device applications. Co-doped TiO2 anatase and rutilehave been reported as the most magnetically robust DMSwith Curie temperatures above room temperature [1–3]. Magneticproperties differed considerably for films prepared underdifferent methods, indicating that the local environmentof Co has dramatic effects on magnetic behaviour. On theother hand theoretical ab intio study of magnetic properties ofTi1−xFex O2 (x=0.06 and 0.25) indicates ferromagnetism witha Fe magnetic moment larger than the one reported for Co[4]. In this work, we have studied the Fe local environmentin Ti0.9Fe0.1 O2−d films, deposited by pulsed-laser deposition(PLD), by x-ray absorption (XAS). The dependence of Fe localizationwith sample preparation conditions is discussed.
