Resumen:
Introduction: Recently, the component of oil cannabis CBD wasfound to regulate mitochondrial DNA epigenetics, biogenesis, andnetwork dynamics. While abnormal mitochondrial function has been repeatedly linked to a wide variety of cardiovasculardiseases, components of cannabis oil have proved cardioprotective, attenuating inflammatory and oxidative damage. However, the effect of cannabis oil on hypertensive cardiac hypertrophy (CH) and specially on mitochondrial function, remains elusive. Objective: To evaluate the consequences of cannabis oil on hypertrophy, mitochondrial function, and mitochondrial networkdynamics in SHR hearts. Methods: Three-month old male SHR were randomized into treated (TR) and control (CR). Cannabissativa or olive oil were orally administered for 1 month, respectively. At the end of treatment, we measured CH, mitochondrialnetwork dynamics by qPCR, mitochondrial membrane potential by spectrofluorometry and myocardial superoxide dismutase(SOD) activity by spectrometry. Data are presented as mean±SEM. Welch?s t-test was used for statistical differences (p
