Resumen:
The paper studies the pattern differences of intra-city mobility among working and middle-class settlements in Buenos Aires Metropolitan Area, in which the author concludes that working-class households are more residentially mobile than middle-class households. The study focuses attention upon the reception points (barrios) for households, the location of previous place of residence, and the tenure and dwelling characteristics of previous and contemporary place of residence. Residential mobility remains as a prevalent feature of households with any previous experience of migration. Particularly critical to the residential patterns are: (1) land ownership, (2) the house plot locations and the characteristics of urbanization, and (3) state interventions.
