Resumen:
A stand alone on-line Noble Gases beta/gamma detection channel is presented. This channel is integrated to an Aerosols, Iodine and Noble Gases Air Effluent Monitor (AEMi) designed by INVAP. The system was originally designed to meet the Gaseous Effluent detection requirements of OPAL (ANSTO Research Reactor in Sydney, Australia) and it has been operating continuously for the past four years. Original design features are presented, focusing specific attention on qualification issues regarding ANSTO requirements (associated also with aerosols and iodine sampling capabilities). The aim is to achieve good sensitivity for stack measurements at Noble Gases lower end activity concentration range. ANSTO seismic and environmental requirements were also taken into account in the design. The Noble Gases channel is currently being adapted to meet measurement requirements for a Radioisotope Production Facility where substantially higher Noble Gases activity concentration levels have to be measured.
