Resumen:
In this paper, the genetic structure of a human population is investigated through R-matrix analysis of finger ridge counts. The biological interest of this small population (located in a valley ringed by mountains in the western part of Córdoba province, Argentina) is based on its reproductive isolation and reduced immigration. The aims of this study were to establish whether the subpopulations were homogeneous or heterogeneous in dermatoglyphic traits and, if heterogeneous, whether the differences observed among subpopulations correspond to known demographic trends or to different degrees of endogamy.
