Resumen:
AbstractThis paper covers the systematic analysis of the Middle Miocene bivalves contained in the Puerto Madryn Formation (Chubut Province, Patagonia, Argentina). Twenty species have been described and illustrated, the genus Ameghinomya !HERING, 1907 was ratified and 5 new species have been stablished: Dinocardium novus n.sp., Spisula (Mactromeris) Zanga n.sp., Dosinia (Dosinia) cuspidata n.sp., Chionopsis (Chionopsis) australis n.sp. and Bothrocorbula (Hexacorbula) caduca n. sp. This fauna may be subdivided into five groups according to its composition and origin: Caribbean, Cosmopolitan, Paleoaustral, Neoaustral and Endemic elements. The fossil assemblage analized suggests warm water conditions similar to those recorded in the tropical and subtropical regions of Recent Panamic, Gulf and Caribbean Molluskan Provinces.
