Resumen:
This research is motivated by two inter-relatedarguments.Humour and cartooning in children are usefulmeans to (1) address sensitive socio-politicalissues and(2) foster empathic concern and perspective-taking.Humorous cartoons and multimodal narratives werecreated by 10–13-yearolds in school workshops aboutsocial inequality and social empathy. Students madecartoons related to concrete situations of economic, gender, racial and ethnic inequality. Children showed empathicconcern towards the victims depicted, evidencedby representing positive empathy between charactersor by denouncing a lack of empathy. This research suggeststhat composing humorous multimodal narrativescan favour immersive experiences, perspective-taking,empathy and pro-sociality.
