Resumen:
Herein we report the preparation and characterization of tribological, electrical and mechanical properties of novel tailor-made nanocomposite coatings. The materials are based on an epoxy thermosetting matrix modified with highly epoxidized poly(styrene-b-isoprene-b-styrene) (eSIS) block copolymer and carbon nanotubes covalently grafted with poly(styrene) chains (PSgCNT) as the reinforcement to provide electrical conductivity without aggregate formation. eSIS block copolymer has an epoxy miscible epoxidized poly(isoprene) block to provide compatibility with the epoxy precursors and epoxy immiscible poly(styrene) blocks, which microphase separate into nanodomains that provide compatibility to the PSgCNT increasing matrix-filler interactions. Different ammounts of PSgCNT were incorporated to the nanocomposites to evaluate the effect on electrical conductivity, wear coefficient, energy dissipation and Young?s modulus of the nanocomposites.   Keywords: Carbon nanotubes, block copolymers, epoxy thermosets, nanocomposites, coatings.
