Resumen:
A novel electrochemical method for the recognition of different species of microorganisms has been developed. It consists of sampled DC voltammetry applied directly to microbial cultures or to the supernatants of these cultures obtained following centrifugation. Pt, Au, and glassy carbon working electrode materials were examined. Complete and replicated voltammograms obtained at gold working electrodes were processed by factor analysis to generate the scores plots that were used for pattern recognition of the different species. Three Gramnegative bacteria (E. aerogenes, P. vulgaris and E. coli), two Gram-positive bacteria (B. cereus and S. aureus) and one fungus (S. cerevisiae) were tested. The chemometric methods employed for data analysis produced clear groupings of replicate voltammograms for these organisms, allowing species identification.
