In the present study the author examines the reception and reelaboration of the ciceronian definition of ?ius naturae? in De inventione Rhetorica II, 53, 161, and some of its assumptions, in developments of Summa de bono of Philip the Chancellor (circa 1228-1236). In this context the author considers the contribution of the Cicero´s tradition of ?ius naturae? to the medieval elaboration about the intrinsic contents of nature and about links between nature and rationality.
