Thls contribution describes the introduction, dispersion and present situalion of the horn fly in Argentina. Soon after it is detected in the N.E. of Argentina in October 1991, there Is a wide and rapld dispersion embraclng more than 90% of the Argentlne´ cattle productlon area by May 1993. Unregulated cattle movement on trucks with the aid of mild weather and lack of physical barrlers In the landscape area considered as the main factor for such a fast dispersion. There is a need to monitor chemlcal resistance and the possible inroduction of exotlc cattle pests in the borders.
