The Eocene Río Turbio Formation is exposed in southwestern portion of the Santa Cruz province of Argentina and comprises a thick section of rock that originated under marginal-marine conditions. The exposures studied herein are located along National Highway 40, which is about ten kilometers North of the town of Río Turbio (S 51º29’47.7”; W 72º14’1.8”).
