Resumen:
Ibuprofen is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory pharmaceutical of massive use. Although nowadays most commercially available medicines contain the racemic mixture of the pharmaceutical, it is well documented that the therapeutic activity of ibuprofen is attributed to the (S)-enantiomer.
With the aim of increasing the fraction of the active enantiomer in the pharmaceutical in this contribution we analyze the feasibility of the enzymatic resolution of racemic ibuprofen catalyzed with Novozym 435 a commercial immobilized version of Candida antarctica B lipase.
