Resumen:
In this work a comparative kinetic analysis between magnetite and iron nanoparticles for the degradation of an aqueous solution of benzene is presented. The results are related to previous experiences developed in our laboratory with ferrous sulphate with the traditional Fenton´s method. Both solid catalyzers were structurally and magnetically characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM), and vibrating sample magnetometry (VSM), respectively. The experiences were performed at 20°C, at a fixed molarity of benzene, hydrogen peroxide and catalyst. Results indicate that the three studied systems are adecquate for Benzene degradation with the Fenton’s method. However, kinetic studies show that the relation (mol nºFe)/(mol nºBz) is larger for the solid catalysts as compared to ferrous sulphate.
