Resumen:
The effect of Y3+ substitution onthe structural and magnetic properties of Ni0.5YyFe(2-y)O4 (0.01≤ y≤ 0.05) wasinvestigated. Microwave absorption properties ofthese ferrites in the frequency range 1 MHz to 1.8 GHz were also studied.Yttrium substitution slightly reduces crystallite sizes and cell parameters,and modifies saturation magnetization, permeability and permittivity in theexplored frequency range. The dielectric constant decreases with yttriumcontent, showing a constant behavior in the explored frequency range. Themaximum of the magnetic losses diminishes and shifts to higher frequencies withyttrium inclusion. Yttrium-substituted Ni-Zn ferrites (with Y content ≤0.05 performula unit) can be considered good attenuator materials in the exploredmicrowave range.
