Resumen:
The aim of this work is to obtain and characterizea composite material using an environmentally friendly matrix and greenprocesses. For that purpose, different composites of as-received commercialgraphite flakes (G) and nickel nanoparticles (Ni NPs) were prepared by aone-step soft synthesis and by mechanical mixture. The properties of thecomposites were compared using X-ray diffraction, electron microscopy, Ramanspectroscopy and magnetometry. The microwave absorption behavior of thecomposites was also assessed in the 0.1 to 3 GHz frequency range, to explorepotential applications. The composites prepared by chemical synthesis andheat-treated, display improved crystallinity and magnetization. Small amountsof Ni NPs in the chemically synthesized composite not only enhance graphite?smicrowave absorption properties, reaching values above 10 dB at 2.5 GHz, butalso extend the use of graphite to low frequencies as a microwave absorber.
