Resumen:
The production of light olefins through the conversion of methanol (MTO) is presented as an alternative to satisfy the growing demand for propylene and ethylene. Its importance lies in the flexibility to vary the ratio of propylene/ethylene, energy efficiency and low CO2 emissions compared to the conventional steam cracking process. The commercial catalysts, HZSM5 and SAPO34, present high yields to light olefins. However, they are deactivated by coke deposition and require regeneration. To improve the process initially aluminosilicates with differentcomposition SiO2-Al2O3 are proposed. The present work studies the conversion of methanol to olefins using aluminum-silicates of different percentages of SiO2 and Al2O3. It seeks to determine the incidence in the distribution of products of the composition and incorporation of chlorine to these amorphous materials and compare them with commercial catalysts
