Resumen:
THE VIBRATIONAL and electronic spectra of vanadyl nitrate were obtained and interpreted as part of our studies on covalent derivatives of transition metals. The infrared spectrum of the gaseous substance is of particular interest because it shows bands with distinct rotational contours which support the most probable molecular structure, proposed by Addison et al. in a vibrational study on metal nitrates [1]. In fact, the real molecular structure is still unknown. This substance is related to chromyl nitrate, which was also studied in our laboratory a short time ago [2]. The electronic spectrum of the gaseous substance is also reported. molecular structure is still unknown.
