magnetic orderingbetweenparamagneticcenters.ThiscontributionreportsthecrystalstructureandrelatedmagneticpropertiesforVO[Fe(CN)5NO] 2H2O, whichhasalayeredstructure.Thissolidcrys-tallizes withanorthorhombicunitcell,inthe Pna21 space group,withcellparameters a¼14.1804(2),b¼10.4935(1), c¼7.1722(8)Åandfourmoleculesperunitcell(Z¼4). Itscrystalstructurewassolvedandrefined frompowderX-raydiffractiondata.NeighboringlayersremainlinkedthroughanetworkofhydrogenbondsinvolvingawatermoleculecoordinatedtotheaxialpositionfortheVatomandtheunbridged axialNOandCNligands.Anuncoordinatedwatermoleculeisfoundformingatriplebridgebetween theselasttwoligandsandthecoordinatedwatermolecule.Themagneticmeasurements,re-corded downto2K,showsaferromagneticinteractionbetweenVatomslocatedatneighboringlayers,with aCurie-Weissconstantof3.14K.SuchferromagneticbehaviorwasinterpretedasresultingfromasuperexchangeinteractionthroughthenetworkofstrongOH OH2O, OH NCN, andOH ONOhydrogenbondsthatconnectsneighboringlayers.Theinteractionwithinthelayermustbeofanti-ferromagnetic natureanditwasdetectedcloseto2K.
