Resumen:
Late Paleozoic exposures are larger in Lafonia, southern part of Soledad (East) Island. In the Gran Mavina (West) Island outcrops are in the N and E. Late Paleozoic rocks overlie Silurian to Upper Devonian strata. The sequence is composed of six units. The Bluff Cove Fm (100 m thick) is formed by sandstones, green laminated shales with dropstones. The Lafonia Fm (up to 850 m) is composed of diamictites, conglomerates, sandstones and shales exposed in both islands overlying striated Devonian rocks. It was deposited by glaciers in emerged continental areas. The Port Sussex Fm (275 m) is formed of dark and black shales and sandstones.
