Formation of esters groups between the PLA and starch nanocrystals was reported.  The evidence of the occurrence of grafting of the polymers was checked by FTIR, TGA and SEM  The nanocomposites obtained by casting of chloroform solution of modified PLA grafted to starch nanocrystals shows very important improvements on the storage modulus and tensile strength, without detriment of the thermal properties or hydrophobicity.
