Resumen:
Titanium dioxide photocatalysis has proven to be an effective technology to degrade chemicals that are resistant to conventional treatment methods. Nevertheless, this process exhibits low energy efficiency and requires UV light activation. Metal doping is one of the strategies that have been employed to extend the radiation absorption of TiO2 into the visible light spectrum and to increase the efficiency of the photocatalytic process. The present chapter discusses the following aspects of metal-doped TiO2 photocatalysts: synthesis, characterization, optical properties, stability, recovery, and performance assessment by means efficiency parameters. Applications of these materials to degrade phenols and hormones are also presented.
