The uptake and release of Ca2+ were studied in EGTA-skinned aortic strips from spontaneously hypertensive rats (SHR strain: SAP=191?}5 mmHg, n=27) and normotensive control rats (WKY strain: SAP=131?} 2mmHg, n=25). 45Ca uptake was measured as a function of time (0.5 to 30min.), at pCa 6.6, in the presence of 10mM of K oxalate.
