Resumen:
Galaxies in clusters may lose a significant fraction of their gas via interactions with the hot and diffuse gas of the intracluster medium (ICM). The pressure exerted by the ICM on the interstellar medium (ISM) of the moving galaxy may be enough to force it out of the galaxy; this effect is known as ram pressure stripping (RPS). This has been proposed as an explanation for the lack of interstellar gas in dwarf galaxies, the truncated gas discs of spirals in clusters and the transformation of Sb/Sc galaxies into S0. Using a hybrid model that combines non-radiative N-Body/SPH simulations of galaxy clusters with a semianalytic model of galaxy formation that includes the effect of RPS, we investigate its impact on the observable properties of cluster galaxies. We present preliminary results of the RPS effect on the luminosity function for 0 <= z <= 1.
