A computer system for data analysis of the fly and parasitoid populations monitoring in the Northwest Argentina.

    A series of bioecological and taxonomic studies on fruit flies of economic importance and thir parasitoids are currently conducted in the Instituto Superior de Entomología (Facultad de Ciencias Naturales e Instituto Miguel Lillo – Universidad Nacional de Tucumán) and the Fundación Miguel Lillo- CIRPON, to provide data that can be used to facilitate the biogeografical control of Medfly and south american fruit fly in northwest Argentina, like in other Argentinean fruit- producing regions. These research projects are supported by funds provided by the Consejo nacional de Investigaciones Científicas y Técnicas (CONICET), The Consejo de Investigaciones de la Universidad Nacional de Tucumán (CIUNT), and by the Agencia Nacional de Promoción Científica y Tecnológica. Through Fondo Nacional de Ciencia y Tecnóloga (FONCyt). The current field activities include the fruti fly and parasitoid populations monitoring through mature fruits sampling and adult flies   trapping. From the bigining of these activities a database was used to store the generated information of the field work. However an efficient system for the organization  and analysis of all bioecological data obtained from fruit fly and parasitoid monitoring  and from fruit samples and traps processing was needed. For this reason, a computer system in visual languaje as fundamental tool for the achievement of the proposed objective was developed. Three aleternative “entities” with eleven “fields” esch one, and with different types of data (numeric character and dates) were created as part of the first advances in the development of the informatic system.
