Resumen:
This chapter deals with the general biology and morphology, the ecology, the growth and development pattern, the architecture and ecophysiological features of cypresses. When information is available, features are described at the genus level. For many aspects however, emphasis is put on the description of the most important species for afforestation in the Mediterranean zone namely C. sempervirens, C. arizonica and secondarily C. dupreziana. Data presented here come from the bibliography and from original works.
