Resumen:
Adsorptive separation of CO2 from CO2-CH4 mixtures is an important issue in natural gas and biogas purification/upgrading in energy generation applications. The adequate design of such processes depends on the knowledge of the behavior of multicomponent adsorption. There has always been an effort in the scientific literature to predict multicomponent adsorption equilibria based on the adsorption isotherms of each of the pure components. In the present work, we present a comparison between experimental data (obtained from measurements of pure component isotherms as well as of mixtures with different gas phase compositions) and simulation studies (obtained through the Grand Canonical Monte Carlo (GCMC) simulation of the corresponding adsorption experiments) for the adsorption of CO2-CH4 mixtures on an activated carbon (AC) at temperature 293 K.
