Trabajo enviado el 06/11/2008 y aceptado el 05/03/2009Resumen:It is regularly accepted that contour length fluctuations increase the viscosity exponentfor chains that diffuse by reptation. We found that length fluctuations in the necklace modelcan play an unexpected role decreasing the value of this exponent. A detailed analysis of theinterplay between the discrete character of the model and how the fluctuations take place ispresented in this work. Basically, we found that, when fluctuations are symmetric theirinfluence is the expected one; when fluctuations are not symmetric new effects can appear.
