Resumen:
Photocatalytic treatment of polluted water has gained increased attention recently. Modified ferrospinels (MFe2O4) have been employed in photocatalysis for remediating of aqueous waste containing organic compounds in solution, through advance oxidation process (AOPs). The catalytic activity of these materials is attributed to the semiconductor properties of the modified ferrospinels. In this work, MFe2O4 (M are Mg2+ and/or Co2+) were obtained using a molar ratio M2+/Fe3+ 3/1 by thermal decomposition at 823 K in air of the layered double hydroxides (LDH). The LDH were synthesized by co-precipitation using different method of aging: hydrothermal treatment (ht) and room temperature (tr). The MFe2O4 and precursors materials were characterized through: X-ray diffraction (XRD), diffuse reflectance spectroscopy UV-visible, FT-IR spectroscopy, specifics area by BET technique, and ICP-OES. The bang gap energy (Eg) of the materials was calculated using the equation of Kubelka-Munk.
