Influence of the conditions of synthesis in Al-MCM-41 on the activity in e-caprolactam production

The e-caprolactam (e-C) is an important intermediate for the manufacture of synthetic fibers and plastics. Traditional production of e-C involves the Beckmann rearrangement (BR) in liquid phase of cyclohexanone oxime (CO). This traditional process is questioned due to the use of concentrated sulfuric acid as catalyst. In order to develop a more economical, efficient and environmentally compatible process, we have sought to conduct the vapor phase RB using solid catalysts.
