Resumen:
This paper discusses a new control scheme of a three-phase grid-connected wind energy conversion system (WECS). The control incorporates a maximum power point tracker (MPPT) for optimal use of the wind resource. In addition, reactive power compensation of the electric grid is included, operating simultaneously and independently of the active power generation. The wind turbine generator (WTG) consists of a variable speed wind turbine and the MPPT is implemented via a dc-dc boost converter. A three-level voltage source inverter (VSI) is used as interface with the ac power grid.  Validation of models and control schemes is performed by using the MATLAB/Simulink environment. Moreover, a 400 W WECS experimental set-up was used to demonstrate the effectiveness of the MPPT algorithm proposed.
