Resumen:
Due to the deployment of Distributed Generation (DG), the future grid will show reduced inertia resulting in higher dynamics and reduced stability margins. This is especially true in Microgrids (MGs). In this paper a control strategy for converter-coupled generation to emulate the synchronous machines is proposed. Specifically, the emulation of the synchronous machine inertial behaviour provides stability in weak grids (as MGs), which can reduce the activation rate of protection systems specially if these protection systems depend on the rate of change of frequency (RoCoF). Furthermore, providing inertia the average frequency deviation (from it nominal value) is reduced as well, improving the power quality in MGs.
