Resumen:
Carbachol in superior mesenteric ganglion modifies the progesterone release  and ovarian 3b-HSD and 20α-HSD enzymatic activities and  gene expression in phase luteal in rat. The objetive of this work was  to determinate if carbachol (10-6M), muscarinic agonist, on superior mesenteric ganglion (SMG) modify the  ovarian progesterone release (P), the ovarian 3b-hidroxisteroid dehydrogenase (3b-HSD) and 20 α-hidroxisteroid dehydrogenase (20α-HSD) enzymatic activities and gene expression of these enzimes, during the luteal phase (DI and DII) of female rat.The ex vivo SMG-ovarian nervous plexus-ovary sistem was incubated with carbachol pressence in the ganglion compared with KRBG, pH 7.4, as control.Student test was used as statistical analysis, p<0.05 was considered significant.Carbachol on DI in the ganglion stimulated P release at 15, 30 and 60 min (p<0.001), whereas in DII  in all incubation time (p<0.001).3b-HSD activity  in DI and DII was increased.20α-HSD activity decresased both stage (p<0.05).3b-HSD gene expression increased in DI and DII (p<0.01).20α-HSD gene expression not showed change in DI but  decreased in DII (p<0.05).We conclude that cholinergic ganglionic pathway has a physiological relevance on the ovarian steroidogenic reactivity.
