Resumen:
"Piedras Blancas" pegmatite, Velasco range: first reference about the presence of the beryl in the San Blas pluton, La Rioja, Argentina. A preliminary geologic, petrographic and mineralogical study of ?Piedras Blancas? pegmatite hosted in the San Blas Carboniferous pluton, Velasco range, La Rioja province (Argentina) is presented. The pegmatite belongs to Rare Element Class and Beryl Type. Based essentially on the post-orogenic character and affinity to A-type granite of the hosted and probably parental rock, the pegmatitic body would correspond to the NYF signature like to other Be-pegmatites groups from Velasco district. The beryl is the main accessory mineral and is associated predominantly to quartz and biotite in intermediate zones of the pegmatite. It is idiomorphic of variable size and both light green and yellowish green color. According to the detailed revision of the available edited literature, it is the first reference of pegmatitic beryl hosted in the San Blas granite pluton.
