SUMMARY. "Anatomy of medicinal species of the Pampean Province: Plantago L. (Plantaginaceae)" This paper includes the treatment of Plantago australis Lam. subsp. australis, P. lanceolata L., P. major L. and P. tomentosa Lam. subsp. tomentosus used in popular medicine. These species are primarily distributed in the east of Argentina, Uruguay and south of Río Grande do Sul, Brazil. Botanical identity, distribution, morphological and anatomical descriptions of root, floral stem, leaf and seed are given for each species. The study also includes illustrations, and a key allows to distinguish the species. Finally, a comparison table based on seed characteristics is given.
