Resumen:
Absolute abundances of planktonic foraminifers, tintinnids, polycystine and pheodarian radiolarians, pelagic crustacean larvae, and pteropods were estimated from 27 samples collected at 22 stations in the Southwestern Atlantic (30-60°S, along 51-56°W) in November 1994, mainly from two depths: 0-5 m and 5-15 m. Latitudinal distribution was found to be similar for both layers, with a decrease of abundance with depth. Two areas characterized by special oceanographic features and with atypical microzooplanktonic concentrations (at 36-37°S and at 42-44°S) are described. Preliminary results on the vertical distribution patterns of the microzooplanktonic groups surveyed in the upper 100 m are analyzed in relationship with temperature profiles
