Resumen:
The knowledge of the linear attenuation coefficient is of great importance for diagnostic radiology, dose, material characterization and it also allows deriving other parameters like electron density and effective atomic number. These parameter may be specially useful in cases where variations of the x-ray attenuation coefficient is small, and electron density and effective atomic number become more significant. The goal of this work were to determine the linear attenuation coefficient of breast tissues, to extract electron density and effective atomic number from the linear attenuation and finally, a diagnostic model was constructed in order to evaluate the potential use of these parameters to classify breast tissues.
