In a previous work[GM11] we have presented new expressions for the bending angleand the optical scalars for gravitational lenses in the regime of weak gravitationalfields over a flat background.In this work we extend the results and discussions to the case in which thebackground is a cosmological one; which requires slight modifications in thediscussion previously published.We specialize to the case of Robertson-Walker geometries, as cosmologicalbackgrounds.The equations we derive for the optical scalars include new terms and factors thathave been neglected in the literature.Our equations present new terms that take into account the contribution ofspacelike components of the energy momentum tensor of the matter producing thelens.
