Resumen:
A perfect match: Silver deposition is oneof the fastest electrochemical reactions,even though the Ag+ ion loses more than5 eV solvation energy in the process. Thisphenomenon, an example of the enigmaof metal deposition, was investigated bya combination of MD simulations, DFT,and specially developed theory. At thesurface, the Ag+ ion experiences a stronginteraction with the sp band of silver,which catalyzes the reaction.
