Resumen:
The eighth edition of the ?Escuela Argentina de Microelectrónica, Tecnología y Aplicaciones?, is taking place in Buenos Aires, Argentina, hosted by ?Universidad Tecnologica Nacional, Regional Buenos Aires? Seventeen papers, out of twenty-nine initial submissions, and one invited paper were accepted to be presented at the conference and afterwards be published in IEEE Xplore. The revision process was rigorous and achieved a 58% acceptance rate. Paper topics include analog design, digital design, low power design, biomedical systems, identification, verification, radiation effects on MOS devices and circuits, signal processing, electronic systems, power electronics, communications and optoelectronics. Three student posters will be presented during the conference, encouraging young researchers to present their first works. All papers received between two and five reviews. We want to specially thank all reviewers for their hard work in providing useful feedback to improve the papers, as they are the key to maintain the technical quality of the proceedings. The Technical Program is also very diverse and rich. During the event, eighteen lectures will be delivered by experts from Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Uruguay, USA, Poland, Belgium, Spain and Hungary. A special day will be devoted to a visit and practice in the INTI?s clean-room. Industry day will count with known Semiconductor, Design and EDA companies from around the world, plus representatives of Investment Funds and important national electronics companies. One of the targets of EAMTA is to help establish a technological platform in the country, and in doing this, we continue emphasizing the central role of students. Therefore, continuing with the tradition started in the first EAMTA, more than sixty (60) travel and lodging grants were provided to students from different provinces of Argentina, Brazil, Peru, Colombia, Uruguay, Paraguay and Costa Rica. We want to thank all sponsors for making this possible. One hundred and thirty seven (137) students have registered in the five tracks offered (72% are undergraduate students, 10% are PhD students and 12% are Master students). This year, four course tracks will be offered. One Basic Track (45% of attendees) will cover basic topics on analog circuits, digital circuits, tools, and design laboratories. An Advanced Digital Track (19% of attendees) will be delivered by Synopsys in order to provide an entry-level knowledge of digital design flow and advanced industrial tools & techniques for digital synthesis. An Analog Design track (14% of attendees) will cover an introduction to analog design, analog design for low power, Gm-C filters, AD/DA circuits, MOS IC´s for medical implantable applications and digital custom design for low power consumption. An advanced Analog Design Track (11% of attendees) will be offered to complete the analog training of students based on a short course of high-speed PLL and VCOs design, and a tutorial of a complete analog Custom Design flow on Synopsys tools. Finally, this year a fifth track is added (11% of attendees) consisting of MEMS design, fault-tolerant, radiation-hardened design and a Clean-room practice, to get acquainted with the facilities available and clean-room procedures. We hope you enjoy the event and the city, and wish you an enriching experience.
