Resumen:
This work assesses the effect of HO• and SO4 •− under photo-Fenton assisted by UVC-LED for bacteria inactivation and microcontaminant removal. To this end, Escherichia coli, Clostridium perfringens and acetamiprid removal in wastewater treatment plant secondary effluent were evaluated. UVC light or the use of UVC light and S2O8 2- as oxidant, were found to be the predominant effect on disinfection. On the contrary, decontamination was favoured by the presence of H2O2 and higher Fe3+-NTA concentrations. The benefits of decontamination interfered with disinfection and vice versa. Due to a trade-off, the oxidant H2O2 (1.47 mM) and Fe3+-NTA (0.05 mM) with a hydraulic retention time (HRT) of 30 min were chosen as the best operating conditions.
