Resumen:
The coast of Buenos Aires (Argentina) is located on the southern margin of La Plata river estuary. Theoriginal morphology of this area was completely changed by fill works. Such works began in 1836and continue until today. However, fill was carried out mostly between 1964 and 1991. The total filledsurface is of approximately 2054 hectares, with a coast advance ranging between 400 and 1000 m(Marcomini and López, 2004). The anthropogenic changes imposed on the coast lineconfiguration have generated a great variety of problems in building foundations due to theheterogeneous composition of the fill materials.
