Resumen:
The subgenus Anachyris of genus Pasaplum includes six species, ranging from Mexico in North America to Brazil, Bolivia, Paraguay, Argentina, and Uruguay. The subgenus is mainly defined by having a boat-shaped, concavo-convex spikelet, the upper lemma with the abaxial surface furrowed, having prominent longitudinal ridges. Anatomically, the species of the subgenus Anachyris are characterized as Kranz, of the MS (=X y MS-) type. Relationships of the subgenus with other taxa of Paspalum are discussed and a key to the species, as well as an anatomical description of the subgenus, photomicrographs, morphological description of the species, and distribution maps are presented.
