Resumen:
Human populations are part of larger communities evolving in time, and long-term interactions with prey and predators in the Neotropical region  represent instances of the whole range of variability involved in the evolutionary history of human adaptations. Such instances are often not represented in other continents, but are as relevant for understanding our history. This symposium is intended as a forum to discuss the specifics of zooarchaeology and taphonomy in the Neotropics – the biogeographic region encompassing Central and South America and adjacent islands – by focusing on a macro scale.
