Resumen:
Let me summarize the strong hylomorphism involved in this passage as follows: Natural forms and compounds should be strictly distinguished from mathematical compounds as to the conditions for definition. Only mathematical compounds exclude any sensible matter; on the contrary, the definition of natural compounds, even though they are defined insofar as the form they embody, must be made up by taking form and functional matter together, because without such matter the compound?s essence cannot be grasped. Now, the point which I have been trying to make for strong hylomorphism is precisely that functional material parts are closely, i.e. not accidentally linked to natural forms, so that such parts are necessary for correctly defining natural compounds. In short, strong hylomorphism is required for natural forms and compounds.
