Resumen:
Seasonal and annual tropical stratospheric temperature at 10 hPa (~30 km) for the interval 1964-1996, total ozone content from Mauna Loa and from Huancayo for the period 1964-1992 and from Nimbus 7 total ozone mapping spectrometer (TOMS) for the period 1978-1993 were considered. The data were grouped by solar cycle. The points of each scatter plot for solar cycles 20, 21,and 22, of temperature and ozone in terms of F10.7 were linked according to their chronological order. The plots of temperature in terms of F10.7 follow an ordered pattern, which resemble an oval loop. For the annual data the loop of cycle 20 is narrow, almost a line, and becomes wide and counter-clockwise for cycle 21 and wider but clockwise for cycle 22. The linear correlation coefficients are 0.83, 0.62 and 0.16 for solar cycles 20 to 22. The plot of total ozone content in terms of F10.7 also follows an ordered pattern similar to that of temperature. The procedure followed in this work allowed us the detection of an association between temperature with solar activity and ozone content with solar activity, which would have not been noticed if the data were not grouped by solar cycle, since the association is different in each cycle.
