Resumen:
There are evidences of ionospheric disturbances coincident with the occurrence of strong tropospheric processes, such as perturbations in F region parameters after hurricane passages, volcanic eruptions, nuclear explosions, earthquakes, or mesoscale convective complexes (MCC?s). The effects of strong hurricanes and typhoons over the ionospheric F region are analyzed through the study of the F2 region critical frequency (foF2) and the virtual height of the F layer (h?F) recorded at locations near the passage of the tropical cyclones. The study of these ionospheric disturbances, which may be related to gravity waves generated in the troposphere, provide another clue for understanding the possible troposphere-ionosphere interaction.
